Gender Predictor Accuracy – Which Methods Actually Work?

Not all gender prediction methods are created equal. Here is the real accuracy data for every popular method, from medical tests to old wives' tales.

Medical Methods (Proven)

NIPT, CVS & Anatomy Ultrasound

NIPT Blood Test (10+ weeks): 99%+ accurate. Analyzes fetal DNA in the mother's blood. The gold standard for early gender determination.

CVS (10-13 weeks): 99%+ accurate. Diagnostic test that examines placental tissue. Not typically done just for gender.

Anatomy Ultrasound (18-20 weeks): 95-99% accurate when performed by a trained sonographer with a cooperative baby.

Ultrasound-Based Methods (Unproven)

Nub, Ramzi & Skull Theory

Nub Theory (11-14 weeks): 70-90% in informal studies. Depends heavily on image quality and the sonographer's skill. Not peer-reviewed.

Ramzi Theory (6-8 weeks): Unverified. The 2011 study was never peer-reviewed. Most medical professionals consider it unreliable.

Skull Theory (12+ weeks): No published research. Purely speculative based on adult forensic anthropology applied to fetuses.

Chinese Calendar, Old Wives' Tales & More
